Refund policy

To start a return, you can contact us at hello@area-books.com in special conditions. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

 

Damages and issues :  
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

 

Exchanges :  
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.

 

Refunds :  
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.

Client may withdraw at any time his consent given prior to the implantation of a cookie. Refusal to install a cookie may result in the impossibility to access certain services.

Terms of use

These General Terms and Conditions ("GTC") are entered by and between Area Books, represented by Laure-Anne Kayser ("Publisher") and the Client ("Client"), for any online purchase done via the Publisher's website at www.area-books.com ("the Website").  

 

SECTION 1 - Scope :
These GTC shall apply to all Orders placed trough Publisher’s Website. These GTC and the online order ("The Order") constitute the entire contractual documents binding between Publisher and Client.

 

SECTION 2 - Registration and accounts :
To order on the Website, Client is subject to a prior registration proceeding, by filing a registration form. Online purchasing is subject to Client’s prior authentication (ID and password). Client agrees to provide a valid e-mail address at his/her first connection. Any purchase on the Website requires a connection, a recent Internet browser and computer equipment.

 

SECTION 3 - Books presentation :
The presentation of the books on the website does not represent a legally binding offer but a non-binding online catalogue. Each book is accompanied by a description and is offered for sale, within the limits of available stocks.  

 

SECTION 4 - Orders :
Client who wishes to purchase a book on the Website must fill first the Order form, with his/her ID, password and the books' references ordered. To confirm the Order, Client must tick the box "I have read and accepted the General Terms and Conditions" followed by the action "confirm", in order to be bound by his/her "double click". The "double click" constitutes an electronic signature, which has the same value than a written signature. This acceptance will be followed by immediate payment of the Order. Publisher will send Client, by e-mail, an order confirmation and the paid invoice, subject to the acceptance of the payment by Client's bank.  

 

SECTION 5 - Prices :
Prices are quoted on the Website, inclusive of taxes and exclusive of delivery costs. For international deliveries, Client is responsible for any additional taxes and customs fees. Publisher reserves the right to change prices at any time, only the price indicated on the Site is binding between the parties. The payment methods are mentioned on the Website. Failure to pay, then Publisher shall suspend or cancel the purchase and/or withhold the products ordered.  

 

SECTION 6 - Deliveries :
Publisher will deliver the books to the delivery address specified by Client in the Order form. Publisher declines all responsibility in case of incorrect address. The Publisher will inform Client of the time of delivery; however Publisher does not guarantee delivery by this date. The risks shall be borne by the Buyer from the moment the works have left the Publisher's premises. In the event of unavailability of a book, Client shall be informed promptly.  

 

SECTION 7 - Warranties :
All works sold by Publisher benefit from the legal warranty provided by articles 1641 to 1649 of the French Civil Code. In the event of non-conformity of a product sold, it may be returned to Publisher who will take it back, exchange it or refund it. Any claim or request for exchange or refund must be addressed to Publisher, by email to the following address hello@area-books.com

 

SECTION 8 - Liability :
Publisher's liability cannot be sought if the non-performance of the contract is attributable either to Client, or to the unforeseeable and insurmountable action of a third party, or to a case of force majeure.

 

SECTION 9 - Intellectual property :
Publisher will retain all right, title and interest in and to photographs, images and artworks. These Works are protected under intellectual property law and may not be reproduced, with the exception of reproductions made to promote the works sold on the Site, for which Publisher grants a non-exclusive licence for use.

These GTC shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France. Any disputes relating to these GTC shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of France.
